1960's
Clothing styles have always mirrored the attitudes of the times and this is very true of the fashion in the 1960s. The decade was marked by dramatically social change and domination of the youth culture, Baby boomers were growing up and demanded their own fashion style. Designers reacted with a much more daring approach to fashion, presenting colourful fabrics and bolder designs. The 1960s saw fashion ignore the previous eras. Clothing didn't follow the social traditions that told people what to be worn and by whom. In the past, clothing had been divided into ‘formal’ and ‘casual’, and noticeable separations were made between the styles of clothing worn by men and women. The 1960s, however, saw the introduction of unisex clothing including denim jeans which could be worn by both men and women.
